Aqualyx is a very effective new treatment to dissolve the stubborn areas of fat that dieting does not shift, areas such as jowls and the fold of fat under your chin, saddle bags on your thighs, and fat around your bra line

Aqualyx is an injectable solution, now made in the laboratory, but was originally derived from the bile in your liver that your body uses to help digest the fat you eat. When injected it works in a different way, to permanently dissolve fat cells. It doesn’t just temporarily remove the fat; the fat cells and the fat they contain are removed permanently and do not come back, just like liposuction. It is an excellent alternative to liposuction for small areas, and indeed can be better because the Aqualyx diffused around the site of infection to give a gradual, smooth reduction in fat cells. In fact one of the uses of Aqualyx is to smooth out the irregularities that can be left after liposuction.

  2. Bra Bulge
  3. Stomach
  4. Hips (Love Handles)

  6. Under the Buttocks (Banana Folds)
  7. Inner Thighs
  8. Knee
  9. Chin, Jowls

What is the treatment like?

The solution is injected into the fat through a special ultra fine Aqualyx™ needle. Usually 2 injection points are required per area treated, with the amount of product varying according to the size of the area. Local anaesthetic is added to the solution before injection to improve patient comfort. immediately after the treatment we will vigorously massage the injected area. This helps distribute the injection fluid to get a better response. It also helps with the skin tightening process that occurs in the weeks following the injections.

How many treatments are required?

The number of treatments required will vary according to volume of localized fat, the desired degree of correction and the individual’s reaction of the fat tissue. Often this can be done in 1 or perhaps 2 treatments, especially around the face, but in other areas of the body, if there is a lot of fat  to be dissolved then it can take more to get to the desired result. However you will see a change after one treatment

After the treatment

  • Immediately after the treatment you will experience some itching, burning and tenderness in the treated area – this is a desired response to the treatment and shows that it is working!
  • Over the next few days there will be swelling and may be redness and tenderness in the treated area. This is not only a normal reaction to the treatment but is a good sign that the treatment is working well. It will resolve spontaneously in a few days. As with any injectable treatment bruising may occur.
  • Following the treatment we will ask you to vigorously massage the treated area, just as we did at the time of the treatment. This is to continue the skin tightening process

How soon will I see my results?

Aqualyx is a very effective treatment and noticeable changes will begin to be seen once the initial swelling settles after a few days.  There is then a gradual improvement as the skin is tightened. The second treatment would be at about 8 weeks if necessary.

How long will the effect of the treatment last?

The treatment is permanent as the fat cells are destroyed. As the fatty acids are converted into energy, it is important that you keep a strict and healthy diet, and exercise regime during the treatment process. Aqualyx™ is not a way of losing weight.

Is Aqualyx™ Safe ?

Aqualyx™ is very safe with full CE approval. Over 2 million vials have been used in around the world since it was introduced in Italy in 2009. Additionally, only doctors who have received special training are authorized to perform the treatments.

Is Aqualyx™ right for me?

If you are frustrated by the resistance of certain body areas to diet and exercise and you are healthy and seeking a low-pain solution to losing stubborn fat deposits, then Aqualyx™ could be your answer. Ideal candidates are typically at or near their ideal weight. Your doctor will assist you with your decision about potential areas for sculpting, anticipated results, and the recovery process.

Who is not suitable for the treatment

Aqualyx™ is not recommended for patients with medical history of anaphylactic reactions, severe allergies, severe organic or physical illnesses, autoimmune diseases or diabetes, as well as woman who are pregnant or breast-feeding. You should also generally be fairly close to your ideal weight. Aqualyx is a treatment for the stubborn areas of fat that do not go even when you diet. It should not be seen as a way of losing weight!

How much does the treatment cost?

The cost of Aqualyx™ treatment depends on the size of the area(s) being treated and the number of areas you have done at one treatment session. Treatments to the face generally cost about £400, and £350-£450 for the body

It is important to have a full clinical assessment before a treatment is started so you will need to come in for a 30 minute assessment consultation for which there is a charge of £50, which will come off the first treatment. Alternatively if you prefer, Dr Blatchley is also happy to have a chat on the phone or see you for a short 10 min initial introductory consultation for which there is no charge. There will still have to be a full 30 min assessment consultation on another day.

We do not usually perform the treatment on the same day as the consultation, so that you can consider all your options. Once the consultation is completed and you are ready to proceed we will then make an appointment for the treatment, which will take about 30-60 mins depending on the area treated.
